The Mission of Dads Club Inc. is to allow God to empower us as men, to develop comprehensive programs which can be utilized into a "Rite of Passage” for our youth in the areas of socialization, education,and empowerment through a mentorship initiative. Dads Club Inc. will help to strengthen the bond which is currently void in many children’s lives.
Who They Are
Dad’s Club Inc , a non-profit organization, was established and founded by seven men whose bond was formed at Cornerstone Schools in Detroit. The foundation was created when the Spirit of God placed a vision on their hearts to fill a void in children’s lives.
Despite all that has already been achieved, the Dad’s Club realizes their journey has only just begun. God has placed a mission in the spirits of these men to go out not only into the community, but also the City and State, to empower and encourage our youth to prepare for a better tomorrow.
Dad’s Club Inc plans to formally establish a “Rites of Passage” for our youth and other educational institutions that are interested in setting up their own “Dad’s Club”. Dad’s Club Inc will also set the following criteria for its initiatives:
· Embrace the role of the “Father” in the family.
· Strengthen the family structure
· Encourage the bond between husband and wife
· Continue to build the Father/Son & Father/Daughter relationship
Programs
Initially, several programs and events were developed specifically to assist in enhancing our children Spiritually, Emotionally, Educationally, and for overall character building. The programs included Mentoring, Tutoring and Sports Activities intended to create a safe learning environment. Events produced were the Annual Father Daughter Dance, “Boys Night at the Palace”, Parents Night Out, and an end-of-the-year Carnival. The Dad’s Club also focuses on community initiatives which will help empower not only our children, but also inspire our entire city. In conjunction with the Mayor’s Administration, they were the creators of the Annual “Dads Day Out”, annual participants in the City of Detroit’s Motor City Makeover, and Angels Night. Additionally, several members most recently completed the Detroit’s Citizen Academy and are now official City of Detroit Community Ambassadors.
In order for DADS Club, Inc. to continue making a positive impact on the lives of our children in our communities, we need more men to volunteer their time and talent and join us. Everyone has something that they can contribute to the club. DCI would like to invite men of all ages and other male organizations to collaborate on assisting in the development of our Metro Detroit youth. One of the initiatives for DADS Club Inc. is to establish “dad’s clubs” in all public, charter and private schools in the Metro Detroit area. The clubs will assist schools in mentoring children, providing field trips and serving as positive male role models.
