National Donut Day is the first friday in June (June 4 in 2010) and was created in 1938 by the Salvation Army to celebrate the women who served donuts to soldiers during World War 1. Many donut outlets and shops give away free donuts that day to include Krispy Kreme and Dunkin Donuts.
