Bottled water is arguably one of the biggest scams perpetrated by major corporations.  Corporations have managed to take one of the basic elements of the earth and turn it into a money making machine by convincing the public that water from the earth is only good unless you buy it from them.  Never in the history of the US has a person died from drinking tap water and yet millions of Americans today think that the only good and safe water to drink comes from a bottle marked Dasani or Arrowhead.  Numerous studies have shown that most bottled water is not any safer than tap water and in fact much of it is of lesser quality than standard water from your sink.  Worse yet is the fact that these bottles of water that are supposed to purify you are destroying the earth as millions of plastic bottles are littering landfills across the globe.  

According to the Union of Concerned Scientists, nearly 90% of plastic water bottles are not recycled.  Most of these unrecycled bottles end up in landfills in India or other parts of the globe.  don't be seduced by corporate advertising of mountain springs and cool waterfalls.  Bottled water is just another way corporations are duping the public into spending money on something you can get for free.
