People Doing Good

CompassionOur Compassion section contains profiles of individuals and organizations that give back to the community.  Some of these profiles represent non-profit organizations but many are just individuals who have decided that they want to make a positive difference in the lives of others.

If you know of an individual or a group that should be profiled here let us know.  The world needs to know about these people and their generosity of spirit gives hope to us all that the world is not nearly as selfish as it sometimes appears to be.

  1. Black Gives Back

Tracey WebbToo often black people are wrongly mischaracterized as only the recipients of welfare and charity. Black Gives Back is one website that serves to shatter those myths.  BlackGivesBack.com (BGB) is a website that highlights the enormous amount of giving and charity within the African American community and has quickly become the premier resource for keeping up to date on African American philanthropy, charitable giving, scholarships and fundraising events.

Founded in 2007 by Tracey Webb, BGB is a reflection of Ms. Webb’s lifelong commitment to philanthropy.  With a 20 year background in giving, Tracey has the experience and connections to put together such a comprehensive information portal.  In addition to running the site and running her own charity (The Black Benefactors), Tracey spends time writing for major media outlets, including the Huffington Post's Black Voices, the New York Times, Black Enterprise, Reuters, The Grio, and The Root.
