Inspirational People

This section is reserved for some of the most inspirational people who touch move and inspire the black community, or the world community as a whole.  Some of these people are famous African Americans, but many are not as they are heroes on a much smaller stage.  Some have done outstanding things at the community level as organizers or public servants, while others have accomplished incredible tasks worthy of our admiration for their triumph in the face of long odds.

There are so many inspirational black men and women, and ours is just one voice.  If you want to nominate a person to be listed here please let us know.  It may be your mother or father - if they inspire you, they may inspire us all.

    Russell Simmons is one of the most successful African American entrepreneurs in history.  As the founder of Def Jam Records, Simmons has gone on to create a business empire that has made him (as of April 2011) the third richest person in hip hop.  The elder brother of Rev. Joseph Simmons ("Run" of Run-DMC), Russell forever transformed hip hop music and hip hop culture.
