(Because sometimes you just want to eat with your hands!)
Cost: $8.91 Prep Time: 20 minutes
8 Hot Dogs, 1 pack Hot Dog Buns (8), 1 onion, 4 oz Cheddar Cheese (grated), 1 16oz Can of Chili, 4 Potatoes, 4 Ears of Corn, 24oz Vegetable Oil
Dice 1 onion and set aside.
Place each hot dog in a bun and wrap each in a paper towel.
Place two hot dogs in the microwave and cook on high for 1 minute. Watch out when you take them out – they will be hot.
Repeat the process 4 times for 8 hot dogs.
Open 1 can chili, place in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave on high for 2:30.
Top each hot dog with diced onion, then grated cheese and then chili.
French Fries (15 minutes)
Get large skillet or pan, place on stove on medium high heat, and fill halfway with vegetable oil (do not overfill skillet, as oil expands when hot).
Wash 4 potatoes and pat dry thoroughly (Make sure potatoes are dry as oil and water will cause popping and splatter).
Slice potatoes into french fry strips.
When oil is hot place french fries in pan and fry for5 minutes or so (until golden brown)
Take a plate and line with paper towels (4 or 5 sheets)
Take french fries out of pan and place on lined plate.
Season with garlic salt and pepper immediately (“while they are vulnerable”, as Emeril would say)
Note: you may have to do this in 2 batches depending on how big your skillet is.
Corn (5 minutes)
Take 4 ears of corn and place on microwave-safe plate and cook on high for 5 minutes.
Be careful when removing plate as it will be hot.
