Our Mission    Using This Site    Who is AfroDaddy?    Join the Team    Sponsors    Contact Us

AfroDaddy.com is a collection of individuals who believe that all people should be able to have what they need and want out of life.  We strive to make this site a place where people can get as much information as possible to do that.  The target audience for this site is black men, as unfortunately there is a lack of information in the black community that needs to be addressed.  Traditionally there have been many reasons why information has not been available - from slavery and Jim Crow in the past; to redlining and poor public systems in the present.   The result is that too many black men get too much of their education from the street, tv, prison, or negative peer influences.

Many black men have not been fortunate enough to have parents, uncles, grandparents and mentors who have the time, work history or schooling to teach their young the things that can help them through life, avoid pitfalls and to achieve their dreams.  In addition, much of our oral history has been lost and the passing down of key pieces of survival information from one generation to the next is not occuring the way it should.  On the other hand, even in the best of circumstances not even the smartest or largest extended family can teach the young everything.

AfroDaddy.com is a site to help fill those gaps of information.  We want to be that uncle you seek out when you have a really tough question and you know he has the answer.  The mom who always seems to know how to take care of whatever's ailing you ("put some robitussin on it").  With all the moms and uncles and granddads sharing their collective wisdom on this site hopefully we can achieve our mission of being a survival guide for black men.

Who is AfroDaddy?

Although there is an orignal founder or "AfroDaddy", AfroDaddy.com is really a collection of individuals who believe that all people should be able to have what they need and want out of life.  In addition to the internal and external research staff and writers, there are content contributors from around the world who submit articles and content. Becoming a content contributor is free and if you are interested in sharing your articles on this site click here.

Anyone who contributes to the site through content or financial contribution is a part of the team.  So the real answer to the question "who is AfroDaddy?" is that AfroDaddy is YOU.

Using this Site

AfroDaddy.com was created to help black men and specifically black fathers find the information they need to survive and succeed in today's society.  It is called the Black Man's Survival Guide because unfortunately black men need help to survive as they are suffering significantly and disproportionately in many areas to include employment, health and legality.  This site was founded because enough people said "I wish there was a place to go where I could get some answers - I need some help".  Hopefully this site will let black men know that somebody is hearing you and they are responding.

Although we are committed to helping as many black men as we can with this site,  it is very important to understand that the use of AfroDaddy.com is not exculsively restricted to black men.  Certainly there is alot of content here that is targeted to Black Men and fathers, but much of the site's content is relevant to any man (or woman for that matter) regardless of race.  Everyone should come to the site and take something from it and contribute to it.   After all, the whole point is the eternal struggle for equality and parity.
