Really Really Free Markets (RRFMs) usually occur in a public place like a park or other community area and are filled with people who bring their talents (like hair cutting ability) or goods (like clothes and shoes) and make them available for free to others at the market. Where to get free food on your birthday (or any other day).

The Basics: 

free foodThere are many restaurants that offer a free meal or appetizer on your birthday.  To make things even better many of these restaurants will feed you for free on other days.  The website Hey Its Free has compiled a list (last updated 5/10/2010) containing a list of participating restaurants.  They graciously allow reprint of their list (as long as we give them props, which we most certainly do.)

Kids can eat free almost any night of the week

Many restaurants offer "kids eat free" deals, but the problem is nobody knows where those places are and when they are offering those deals. There are several websites that eliminates the guesswork. Two really good ones are listed below.

www.mykidseatfree.com has a state by state listing of over 5600 participating restaurants covering every night of the week.

www.kidseatfor.com has a great calendar that shows all the free and cheap kids deals based on zipcode.

You can get free donuts on National Donut Day

National Donut Day is the first friday in June (June 4 in 2010) and was created in 1938 by the Salvation Army to celebrate the women who served donuts to soldiers during World War 1.  Many donut outlets and shops give away free donuts that day to include Krispy Kreme and Dunkin Donuts.

You can get free stuff on Craigslist

Craigslist (www.craigslist.org) is a website that has everything from job postings to real estate for sale.  The site is broken down geographically and serves the whole country.  If you select any city and select the "free" link in the middle of the page you will find a treasure chest of free items from office clothing to hospital beds.  Happy hunting!
