Alternatives to Driving Drunk on New Years Eve (or Any Other Night)

The Basics:

No DUIMillions of people love to go out on New Years Eve and drink and party until the sun comes up.  Unfortunately there are those who don't plan out how to get home once the party has stopped, which leads to making bad driving decisions or getting rides home from other drunken strangers.  Driving home drunk is a way to ruin your life with a DUI and/or to ruin multiple lives through serious or fatal car accidents.   New Years (or any other outing) does not have to end this way.

The following are several reasonable options for getting home safely if you've had too much to drink.  Even better, most of these options (if planned out ahead of time) allow you to go out and drink as much as you want and know that your ride home is taken care of.

Good luck and have fun!

How to Take Your Own Measurements (for men)

The Basics:

Black Man Measured for SuitClothes do not make the man, but having clothes that fit right and match your style make a statement to the world about who you are and how much you care about your appearance.   When applying for a job, going on a date, or attending a special event most people want to put their best foot forward and this usually includes wearing gear that make you feel comfortable and confident.

Buying off the rack is fine and works for many people, but you may be one of the millions of people where this option just doesn't work well.  Maybe you have very broad shoulders from working out, or maybe a little gut from not working out enough.  In either event custom tailored shirts, pants and suits will guarantee that your clothes fit you the way you want them to.  If you are one of these people you need to buy custom tailored clothes, and the first thing you need to do this is to take your measurements.

The Wok is Your Friend

The Basics:

Wok and Stir Fry If you want to have a healthy diet you have to include vegetables.  If you want to cook vegetables one of the healthiest ways to eat them are raw or lighly cooked or steamed.  For those times when you actually want to cook your vegetables a wok is a perfect tool.  Not only can you use the wok to prepare healthy and flavorful vegetables, you can also use your wok to prepare your meats, vegetables and starch all in the same amazing pot.

Although many equate a wok solely with Chinese cooking, the wok can be used to prepare all types of dishes.  It cooks food quickly, helps preserve nutrients, allows for single pot cooking, and best of all it is easy to clean.  After you buy one you may find that it is the most used pot in the kitchen.

Chicago Gives Tickets Not Jail Time to Pot Smokers

Snoop Dogg SmokingThere are far too many young black men in prison for marijuana possession and related offenses, and the city of Chicago has decided to do something about it

Yesterday the Chicago City Council voted 43-3 to approve a new city policy that would allow officers to give tickets to pot smokers instead of arresting them.

The new ordinance gives police the option to issue a ticket for possession of 15 grams of marijuana or less. Arrests would still be made however for anyone caught smoking weed in public or possessing marijuana in or near a school or in or near a park.

How to find a good sports bar

The Basics:

sports barIsn't it the right of every black man (or any man for that matter) to be able to go to a bar, hang out and watch the game on a big screen tv?  If its not in the constitution maybe we should consider an amendment...  Even though we all may think going to the sports bar is a great idea, the $100,000 question is "how to find a good one?"

Sure there are restaurants that may have a few TVs scattered about with the game on, but many of these places (that shall remain nameless but sounds like 'snapplebees') don't have the volume up and instead have background musak from the 70's playing in the background.  We want to hear Marv Albert - "a spectacular move" or Mark Jackson - "Mama, there go that man".
