Rihanna

Who They Are:
Singer

Rihanna (born Robyn Rihanna Fenty) has quickly become one of the most famous and best selling female R&B singers of all time.  Born in Saint Michael Barbados, Rihanna came to the US in 2004 at the age of 16 to pursue her singing career.   Almost immediately upon her arrival she secured an interview with Def Jam, auditioned for Jay-Z and the rest, as they say, is history.

After releasing two successful albums in 2005 and 2006, Rihanna broke out of the pack with her third studio album Good Girl Gone Bad, which contained four number one singles to include the wildly popular Umbrella.   Rihanna received nine Grammy Award nominations in 2007 and was the winner of one for the Umbrella collaboration with Jay-Z.  Through 2011 Rihanna has released 5 albums and has sold 20 million of them worldwide.  Billboard Magazine named Rihanna the Digital Songs Artist of the 2000s.  The winner of four Grammys, four American Music Awards, and eighteen Billboard Music Awards, Rihanna has become a decorated veteran all well before reaching the age of thirty.

Noted for her sultry voice, short haircut and sexy performances Rihanna is certainly one black woman who has captured the attention of many male and female fans alike.  Men want to know her and young girls want to be her.  For us, we are just pleased to feature her in Beautiful Black Women and we wish her much success in the future.

In Their Own Words:

“I want to set the right example and, at the same time, live my life.." - Rihanna
