This page is dedicated to the African American winners of the Miss America pageant competition. There were 8 women bestowed with this honor but technically only 7 winners. Vanessa Williams was the first ever African American Miss America, but she resigned her title and the first runner-up Suzette Charles (also African American) assumed the title.
