Everything she does is beautiful. Even her name is so elegant that it flows off the tongue like a song. Maya Angelou is one of the most important voices in American history. As a poet, author, actress, film maker, and historian Maya Angelou has told the stories of a generation with style skill and grace. In addition to her literary skill she is also an extremely talented dancer and actress and if she hadn’t written any of her 30 novels she would probably be remembered solely for her exceptional skill as a performer.
As an eternal advocate for civil rights, Maya Angelou’s has marched with Martin Luther King, written the inaugural poem for President Obama and done about everything else in between. Truly an inspiration to all women and a voice for all people, we are proud to feature Maya Angelou in Beautiful Black Women. In fact, she is THE beautiful black woman.
