Leila Lopes

Who They Are:
Miss Angola, Miss Universe 2011

The most beautiful woman in the world in 2011 is Leila Lopes, Miss Angola.  At least that’s what the judges of the 2011 Miss Universe competition said in September.  Many would have a hard time arguing with their call.  Born in Benguela, Angola, Lopes is the first ever Angolan Miss Universe and only the fourth African woman to ever win the title.

Extremely photogenic and possessing a remarkable glow, Lopes dazzled the judges not only with her beauty, but with her style and grace in answering her interview questions during and after the competition.  As a new ambassador for Angola, Lopes has the opportunity to expose millions to the plight of her fellow countrymen.

Located in south-central Africa, Angola has high levels of poverty and a long history of slavery, civil war, government corruption and turmoil that has created hardship for many of its citizens.  Lopes is truly the “Rose that Grew from Concrete” and represents all the positive that can come from Angola and other difficult parts of the world.  We know this beautiful black woman will represent her country well and we salute her.

In Their Own Words:

"I consider myself a woman endowed with inner beauty. I have acquired many wonderful principles from my family and I intend to follow these for the rest of my life.” - Leila Lopes
