Never in the history of presidential elections has there been a bigger foot-in-mouth moment than has occurred in the Mitt Romney campaign today. Mitt Romney was secretly taped while speaking to his cronies at a fundraising event and he spoke freely and from the heart. Unfortunately for Romney it shows that he has a heart of stone.
Romney asserts in his video that nearly half of all Americans are freeloaders who don't pay taxes and feel that the government owes them everything from food to housing and healthcare. Mitt asserts "I don't care about them" because they will never take "personal responsibility and care for their own lives".
From Mitt Romney:
"There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. That that's an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what…These are people who pay no income tax."
"[M]y job is is not to worry about those people. I'll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives."
This is the Republican candidate for President. He is an embarrassment to the party and an embarrassment to America.
